That’s completely normal—and something we see every week. Many campers start out feeling a little unsure, whether they’re meeting new friends or exploring a new topic.
We’re intentional about helping kids feel comfortable from the very beginning. Each group starts the week with icebreakers led by their instructor, and campers stay with the same small group and instructor all week, which helps build familiarity and confidence quickly.
Because our camps are hands-on, kids naturally get involved by building and creating their own projects, rather than sitting back and watching. This helps even shy campers engage at their own pace.
In most cases, we see kids start to come out of their shell by the end of the first day.
We also create opportunities for campers to share and celebrate their projects with the group, which builds confidence and a sense of pride in what they’ve accomplished.
By the end of the week, many parents are surprised at how much more confident and comfortable their child feels.
